Good Yu-Gi-Oh! Cards to consider for any Deck!

Monster Cards
Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of the Beginning - A 3000 Attack monster that you can summon with two tributes or by removing a Light and Dark card from your graveyard. If that's not enough, he can also destroy one creature per turn or attack twice in the same turn.
Spirit Reaper - A weak monster. But if it damages your opponent they discard a card.
Chaos Sorcerer-Cannot be Normal Summoned/Set. Must first be Special Summoned (from your hand) by banishing 1 LIGHT and 1 DARK monster from your Graveyard. Once per turn: You can target 1 face-up monster on the field: banish that target. This card cannot attack during the turn you activate this effect.
Gorz the Emissary of darkness-When you take damage from a card your opponent controls: You can Special Summon this card from your hand. You must control no cards to activate and to resolve this effect. When Special Summoned this way, activate the appropriate effect, based on the type of damage:
● Battle Damage: Special Summon 1 "Emissary of Darkness Token" (Fairy-Type/LIGHT/Level 7/ATK ?/DEF ?). Its ATK and DEF are each equal to the amount of Battle Damage you took.
● Effect Damage: Inflict damage to your opponent equal to the amount of damage you took.

Spell Cards
Monster Reborn- Target 1 monster in either player's Graveyard; Special Summon it.
Mystical Space Typhoon - Destroy a Spell or Trap Card, this card is so handy it hurts.
Heavy Storm - Wipes out all Spell and Trap Cards on the field.
Book of Moon - Flip a creature into face-down defense position. Great for messing with monsters that have a huge Attack and a low Defense, plus you can re-use your own flip-effect monsters.
Scapegoat - Instantly summon four 0 Attack, 0 Defense, sheep that can't be tributed.
Lightning Vortex - Use this and discard another card to destroy all of your opponent's monsters.

Trap Cards
Mirror Force - Activate when your opponent attacks, negate the attack and destroy all of your opponent's attack position monsters.
Torrential Tribute - Activate when a monster is summoned to destroy all monsters on the field.
Call of the Haunted - Activate to return a monster from the graveyard to play in attack position.
Sakuretsu Armor - Activate when your opponent attacks you, to destroy their monster.
Dust Tornado - Destroy a Spell or Trap card on your opponent's side of the table and immediately set one of your own.

BLS and chaos sorc are only really generic for decks high in light and dark monsters.
Spirit reaper has more subtle uses than just to knock cards out of hand, but that is definitely a good attribute. For example, macro rabbit decks can really struggle to deal with him in defence, without a forbidden lance to force him to die by his own effect.

In terms of spells, I would not consider lighting vortex staple, but dark hole definitely is. Scapegoat again isn't a staple spell for many decks at all, even a lot of stalling decks. I'd put stuff like pot of duality (great drawing card) and forbidden lance (one of the most versitile card around) ahead of them).

In the traps, why sakuretsu armour of dimensional prison? Also, mention dust tornado, but not solemn warning, solemn judgment or bottomless trap hole? Also, Fiendish chain and compulsory evacuation device are very good cards too.

Starlight road might also be worth a mention for decks that run a heavy back row, to allow you to set lets without the fear of heavy storm destroying them all.
